Good Day to all -

I read somewhere on this site that people should look for the Betty Crocker Cancer Cookbook... DON''T BUY IT - it is full of recipes laden with processed sugar, white flour, and other processed foods that are part of the reason you have cancer in the first place.

For all who are in treatment, or know someone in treatment, or just love truly great and tasty food, go to your local bookstore or to Amazon.com and purchase these two beautiful, hard-covered cookbooks, both by Rebecca Katz:

The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen
One Bite at a Time

Ms. Katz recommends organic "everything," which is the first reason I bought both books.
The second reason is that there are very explicit recommendations about which recipes to use when you are experiencing specific side-effects of chemo or radiation, and what specifically to eat the days before treatment, the day of treatment, and the week after treatment.

The third reason is that every single recipe in these two books that I have made so far (probably closing in on 30-50 meals so far) have been so delicious & energy-boosting that I can only say "My tummy is happy!"

If you can't afford both books, buy "The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen" first - that's the one with the recommendations about specific recipes...

Please buy and eat organic whenever possible - in these books you will also learn about the connections between the "standard American Diet" and the various types of cancers we are all fighting.

To your good health -
Linda

Thank you for posting this! I had a tough time wondering what to eat. Sometimes the smell or look of certain food make me nauseous.

I got both books but use "The Cancer- Fighting Kitchen" for now. I'll try the other book in a few weeks.

Thanks again.

Good going, Evelyn! I use "the Cancer Fighting Kitchen" most of the time, but love "One Bite at a Time" as well.

Hope you are getting over the nausea!

Anyone have any recipe website suggestions?

Hi there,
This website isn't exactly specific to cancer fighting foods, but it is really healthy and tasty and the photography and food aesthetic are very inspiring: http://www.101cookbooks.com/

It's a whole foods/vegetarian site, but still not so "health foodie" that it will gross out the rest of your family. Every recipe that I've made has been top notch.

There's a great book available by Chef Bryant Terry - Vegan Soul Kitchen.

We've been trying to invite him to speak at one of our educational meetings but so far, no luck.

Oooh, yeah! I have that Bryant Terry book. It's amazing! I've made several things from it, all of which have gone over really well. And the whole vibe of the cookbook is so joyful, it's a pleasure just to read.
