I have found recently that when I am feeling like I am sinking into a funk, the best cure is to take a really great yoga class. Especially if it's a sweaty, rocking vinyasa flow where I can let go of negative thoughts and stress and revel in the work my body is doing. No joke, I FLOAT out of the room with positive energy radiating out of me. Even if I can't make one of the classes offered, I will do my own practice for just a half hour or so and really feel the difference. It definitely beats sitting on the couch and feeling crummy.
Has anyone else found that yoga is a serious mood lifter? And if you are feeling blue, get up and go do some yoga!!

I find that yoga also prevents "funks". After a great class, my mood is entirely lifted and it's much harder for me to get agitated. Every time I practice, I'm brought back to a very content, peaceful state of mind. Even a few minutes of meditation before bed releases the stress of the day and puts my mind at rest :)
Can't agree enough. I've even found that I crave it now if I don't have it for a few days in a row. On a busy day, or when I'm travelling and a full class is not an option, even just a few good poses and I can fell the negativity start to crack and let the light back in.
I definitely feel ya on this one. i have a newfound appreciation for my health and mind everytime i leave the studio, not to mention my body feels like a wet noodle
isn't it great that yoga has that effect. yoga is by far my drug of choice. and you don't have to go to a class to practice yoga...finding stillness and breathing with awareness is yoga.

here's a great article at about.com on the benefits of yoga:
