Hi,

My name is Stephanie Tang, and I am the founder of Sacred Sounds Yoga, a beautiful, new yoga and tai chi studio in the West Village.  One of the main premises behind our studio is that it is a place for healing.

I wanted to inform you that, starting this week, we will offer Yoga for Cancer Patients & Survivors classes on Thursdays at 4:00-5:15pm and Saturdays at 10:30-11:45am.  Classes will be taught by an instructor who is experienced and certified to teach yoga for cancer patients and survivors.  Classes are donation-based, and 100% of the proceeds will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We also offer tai chi and qigong classes throughout the week.

You find out more information about us at our website (http://www.sacredsoundsyoga.com/). You can also contact us anytime.

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Carmen, I am an NYC resident and also produced a video for at home practice to honor my mother who lived with cancer for 23 years. I am happy to drop one in the mail to you for free while the group works to find you some great studio classes to get you started - please send me your address and I'll mail it out today - you can email me at info@yogaforcancer.com. Blessings on your journey - Kate www.yogaforcancer.com

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the input! I emailed Carmen a couple of suggestions for locations as well. We won't be able to set her up with free classes until she is out of treatment, but will be looking once she is. And Suzanne, I just wanted to say how cool your website is. An amazing resource for the community, thanks for this karma yoga!

That's a good list! Definitely worth checking out some of the more convenient locations. Also, be sure to get in touch with Michelle of the NYC chapter, she may be able to set you up with some complimentary classes. Looking forward to hearing about the growth of your practice!

I have an outdated list of those classes here http://aredlotus.org/NYC/classes.html (scroll down). A lot of the classes seem to have stopped, at least for the summer. Suzy might have more current information. Most of the classes I know of are a bit north of where you usually are, at Gilda's Club and at OM Yoga (or farther, at the JCC).

Lots of yoga studios offer cancer-specific classes...for your convenience, where in the city is home/work?

For cancer patients, I am currently under treatment.

Carmen, Are you looking for YogaBear classes, classes specifically for cancer patients and/or survivors, or something else?
