I'm a PR professional volunteering as Yoga Bear's PR director. Halle and I were roommates when we studied abroad back in college. When she told me about Yoga Bear and its focus on survivorship, I knew I had to get involved. Spreading the word of Yoga Bear is truly rewarding and I am inspired by this great organization.

Blogging for a cause-why I volunteer for Yoga Bear

Although never personally affected by cancer, my family members and one very close childhood friend of mine have been. A friend since kindergarten, Erika and her family have been a part of my life for 20 years. Erika was diagnosed on her 23 birthday with cancer--approximately six months after her father, who was in his 50s, died of cancer less than two months after his diagnosis. Erika suffered both mentally, spiritually and emotionally as she simultaneously fought cancer and mourned her… Continue

Hi Caitlin.

I am new here and I wanted to thank you for all you are doing for those of us who are fighting so hard to pull our lives back together after such a devastating disease.

I will gladly help in any way I can. I have been asked to do a celebrity bartender event here to raise money for my favorite charity... perhaps we could work together?

Hi Caitlin,
Thanks for your help with CNN nomination.

Yoga Bear's mission is the mission I have been on since recovering from cancer and becoming a yoga teacher for other survivors: to bring the option and healing of yoga to cancer survivors. As a YB volunteer,
I am blogging weekly about early cancer , from diagnosis to early recovery. I've supported their Yogapoolza SF venture with Yoga for Cancer Survivor CD's. When a question comes up about yoga and cancer, Halle will ask me to give my opinion. I am also working with Catherine Gordon in SD to develop a program for yoga in two hospitals in SD.
I contribute meditations for cancer survivors to the site. Say hello to new members....and get the word out:)
Blessings,
Jean

Dear Caitlin,
Welcome to Yoga Bear! Thank you for volunteering!

I was just in Chicago! I loved it! There seems to be some nice studio owners who participate in YB.

Blessings,
Jean
