I am a 3-time cancer survivor and my last chemotherapy was in the summer of 2007. I used to go to the gym regularly but since my last series of chemotherapy and several surgeries, I have not gone back. I am now having problems with my leg muscles and flexibility. I have heard about the benefits of yoga so I would like to try it.

In our hearts, we are ever connected to our Source through breath...we all need people who remind us that we can and will move in a direction of healing. Healing is a state of mind and heart, since bodies will eventually cease. Peace! Jean
Dear Marilou,
Every intention and thought is one step closer to action! I remind myself that 'thinking about doing' things is a way to begin to manifest! You have had that tape and it is getting closer to the time you will open it. Don't worry about when, but continue to invite the thoughts, and the time will appear:)
Blessings,
Jean
Marilou! That is what I did! I took a tape and worked from five minutes a day, up to about 15 minutes. I did the beginning, over and over. The breath work is so important for building stamina...it is the heart of yoga. Oh! Another resource, I made CD of my yoga for cancer survivors class...soon,(I don't know how soon) it will be on the podcast section of YB for free download. It is all done on the back, so it is extremely gentle (except for those who have pain in their backs and then it is not the right yoga for them). Take the Rodney Lee Yoga out and go!! Little by little...that's what worked for me, I believe that it will work for you, too!
Blessings,
jean
Hi Marilou,
Usually, a YB coordinator in your area will contact you. This may take a little time, as the site has many new participants everyday! This is exciting, that so many people are thinking about and finding yoga, but YB is still on the smaller side and it takes a little while for coordinators to find the new participants. This is one reason I stop by from time to time and say hello to new YB members. Please let me know what you find.
Blessings,
Jean
Hi Marilou,
On the Home page (and also on your page), if you look across the top, you will see sections. Go to the "For Survivors" and fill out an application for YB passes. Then, go to "For Yoga Providers" and the drop down menu says 'Partner Yoga Studios". You can see the studios in your area! Let me know if you need any more help! I'm excited for you!
Blessings,
Jean
Dear Marilou,
Welcome to YB! You are right that yoga can be beneficial (many studies report this) and I can personally attest to the benefits of yoga! I, too, had to start slowly after cancer and then I became a teacher to teach a gentle and restorative form of yoga. There is an active YB chapter in your area. Use the site to find studios in your area and apply for some YB passes!
Blessings,
Jean
