Dear Jean, First of all I want to thank you for featuring me, I am honored. As I keep meeting more ladies through our work at The Healing Chest I am awed by each of them. Each needs a special honor.…Continue

Never a need to apologize, timing is a "Universal Source" matter! I'd love for you to write some ideas on the Instructor Forum blog. Whatever you feel drawn to write...open...enjoy! Blessings, Jean
I also really want to get info on The Healing Chest onto the website in order to allow women to know this is available to them. It is a sound well researched Yoga Program that is being supported by the doctors that know about it at this point, but as it is brand new, the word needs to be spread.
The Healing Chest llc
A Restorative Yoga Therapy program created specifically for women recovering from prophylactic or therapeutic surgeries related to breast cancer. The Healing Chest offers therapeutic Yoga to address these specific health issues rather than offering a traditional Yoga class. Ancient traditional Yoga may be practiced in modified forms to accommodate the post-surgical limitations of breast surgery patients. Each class is designed to increase the mind-body connection with the intent to augment healing.

Reaching out is a way to 'give back'! Nowadays, I ususally blog, but I'm on vacation and found the need to connect with YB....so, I checked in on our newer members. We have been growing so quickly and it takes many people to welcome new members!
That's a great thing!
My class was developed around more general needs to build breath stamina, hip opening and limb stretches and meditation.
However, I've had many more breast cancer patients than other types of survivors; all report that the gentle stretches have helped them feel safe and allow them to do a pose ( like Goddess pose) with their hands overhead...bent elbows, blankets or out to the side or on the belly...giving options is a way to honor where we are.
There is a teacher in SD, Susan Rosen, who developed a yoga video (years ago) specifically for breast cancer survivors (whom she is one). I have some other resources about tapes (at home)
If you would like more options, let me know.
Youtube also has some excellent yoga (gentle/restorative) that I find helpful when I travel.
Remind me and I will write a more extensive list for you!
Blessings!
Jean
Welcome to YB! I would love to talk with you about my experience with yoga and survivorship. I,too, use a restorative practice and it allowed me to reconnect with my wounded body, mind and spirit.
Blessings,
Jean
