Yoga Challenge Day 5: Abs With Roll

The low belly is a powerful area, both physically and psychologically. Energetically, power and commitment reside in this area. Physically, the muscles in this area keep the digestive area humming along, and the low back strong and relaxed. Tune into the swirling feeling of energy that is stirred up by the end of this pose - feel that delicious movement and excitement the body feels when everything is active and engaged and ready to take on the world. As Denise says in the video, this is an area that we tend to numb out on. Check back into this area, center your thoughts on the revitalisation and good things happening - say goodbye to numb and hello to sensation.

wow, have been sick...and catching up today....all a good workout to open everything up. This one I need to do over and over for stronger abs - better than regular crunches. can't wait to make this easy & natural so can share w/ my students, too.

Love the idea of using a blanket. I teach using a block but blanket is a great idea if you do not have access to a block. Not recommended for breast cancer patients who have had TRAM flaps. I love the fact that you emphasized the fact to roll to 1 side b/4 getting up!
Thanks

great ab roll. especially because it has a modification for back sensitivity and I have a sensitive back. I like the way the towel helps keeps you steady.

Ack! The arthritis in my hips and knees HATED this. But if I keep doing it then maybe it will help the condition over all. Thanks!!

Ah - Forrest Yoga - I love it, I love it. I love teaching it, and though my students groan when it's time for Forrest Yoga abdominals, they know deep inside they love them.

Thanks again for all of the great feedback. We will certainly incorporate it into our next DVD.
In response to Merries feedback on the ab sequence, my comment about the lower belly being a place of numbness for some women relates to women who have had C sections or are "shut down" in this area emotionally from past trauma. Love it that you feel your core every time you move. Cherish that!!

This is so soothing and subtle. Great ab stuff.
