A cancer diagnosis, whether for yourself or a loved one, is a repudiation of feeling safe. The standing pose visual imagery of using our legs to root us into the ground, standing tall in the face of adversity and chaos, is such a simple and beautiful image. It makes the legs feel sturdier, the feet more alive and connected to the earth, and the top of the head reach for the sky. It's all with a few simple words that these feelings are activated, and reminds me of how powerful our words can be. How are we using our words today? Will we choose our words with care and compassion, or will we protect ourselves with sarcasm? Will we take the time to look people in the eye, and try to make connections with them, or will we keep our heads down and pass without ever knowing each other?
Try an intention, just for today: Today I will greet those who greet me with love and compassion. I willtry to see them for who they are - someone's mother, lover, husband, friend. I will choose my words with kindness and respect. I willtreat others as I would be treated. See if anything changes in how you connect with the world and the people in it. If it works for you one day, try it again the next day. Small changes in your intentions can lead to large changes in your soul.
Wish the girl kept her head straight went she leans to the side in the standing poses. She drops her head which is blocking the flow of energy from the spine to the head creating tension.

This is a wonderful series of poses. Love the strong sense of rooting to Mother Earth...especially on Earth Day.
I've watched all the videos and have enjoyed reading the comments, too! Congratulations to all yoginini's that have risen to the challenge, adapted it their needs, found the sweet edge of stretching and inspired others to learn through their willingness:) Yeah, Yoga Bear!
Woh! we are just a day from completing the yoga challenge. What a journey, doing and writing about the poses in my blog..hope some of you visited my blog to get more info about the poses. These poses are part of my yoga teacher's hatha class routine. I always love the flow from one pose to the other. Thanks!
Beautiful intention!
I would have liked some additional info about positioning head, back, pelvis.... for beginners or as reminder to hold/let go of different parts. (what's new) Adding an alternate arm position for those who can't bind yet would also be helpful. Thanks
