I grew up in a family that was not very health conscious. In fact my breakfast consisted of sugary cereal like Frosted Flakes or Cocoa Puffs. My lunch was either a ham and cheese sandwich, pizza, or something even more awful from the cafeteria. Because I grew up in a single family home, my dinners generally were TV dinners or microwave something or other.

As I grew older and had to learn to "grow myself up" on my own, in many ways I have had to back track and fix all the things that were not serving me. This is where yoga really helped me because it allowed me the opportunity to re-learn my breath, posture, and overall lifestyle. In the last ten years I have been on such a roller-coaster ride of fixing my health that it has been quite an adventure.

Something that did not even occur to me was the mercury that was in my mouth. Because I had such a poor diet when I was younger I had to see the dentist quite often and it was generally to get my cavities filled. If it wasn't for the fact that I hated to see a dentist, I would have probably continued to eat like junk.

Since I have taken my heath back and am now eating mainly a raw food diet (some soups or other treats every so often) one of the things that I have now topped off on my list was getting rid of all the toxic mercury in my mouth. If you are devoted to your yogi path, then I highly recommend you visit a holistic dentist. If you are not aware, the mercury that has been used in almost all fillings has been linked to so many illnesses and over time can leak in your mouth.

I am so glad I finally got rid of all the metals in my mouth. Not only do I feel much cleaner, but its actually nice to not have all this metal in my mouth which probably makes my boyfriend much happier when he kisses me! You can also look for "biological" or "mercury free" dentists. They are all the same.
