About the Instructor: Elyse Sparkes
Elyse’s interest in human movement derives from her love of dance. She grew up in Maine where she studied ballet, jazz, and tap pre-professionally. Continuing on this path, she went on to receive her BFA in dance from the Purchase Dance Conservatory and holds a professional certificate of study in dance from the Rotterdam Dance Academy in The Netherlands. Elyse is a certified personal trainer, accredited by the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She has additional certifications from ACE in ‘Pre- and Post- natal Fitness’, ‘Exercise and Osteoporosis’, ‘Framework-7 steps to Healthy Muscles, Bones, and Joints’, ‘Pilates’ and ‘Yoga’. She has studied Thai yoga massage under Ananda Apfelbaum and is certified through the Thai Massage Sacred Bodywork Center in New York City. Elyse is also a private and group class yoga teacher certified by Cyndi Lee's OM Yoga Center in New York City. She is particularly inspired to teach yoga to cancer survivors and studied with Tari Prinster in OM Yoga's Women Cancer Survivor Teacher Training. Elyse is looking forward to bringing Cancer Survivor yoga programs to Brooklyn.

Just wanted to let everyone know that classes will be starting on January 20th not January 6th due to room scheduling issues. But we are very excited to get started and look forward to seeing our returning students and welcoming newcomers
