Hi Jean,
I just took an 8 week gentle yoga class at the local high school and fell in love with it. I signed up for another 8 weeks. I would love to go to a studio, but we don't have 'extra money' to do that. I am looking forward to the yoga challenge starting next Monday! Take care,
Ellen

Jean,
Thanks for your welcome. Please check us out at www.givebackyoga.org.
This past year we focused a lot on support for yoga in prisons through the publication of Yoga: A Path for Healing and Recovery." And now it looks like we will be supporting yoga for military service members in a new project. Rob

Thanks so much for your welcome message and I will be sure to contact the person you suggested. What an inspiration you must be to your yoga students.....coming from a place of adversity and demonstrating all that yoga can do for the body, mind and spirit. Kudos to you!

Hi Jean, thanks for touching base with me. I have added one of the studios where I teach and am working on the other. Do you have any other suggestions on what to do in addition to adding the locations? I will also join the National organization. Thanks,
Sally

Thanks for your comment! I've been practicing on and off for about 30 years! But after my mastectomy, I made it a habit. I go to a Forrest yoga studio that has other types of yoga as well. I just finished a 40-day yoga class challenge, and I feel wonderful these days. Now I'm down to two or three days a week. I still don't see myself being anywhere near a teacher. There are some difficult poses. But it's a foundation for me now.

Hi Jean, This is a great resource and just happen to run across it. I've been involved in cancer research for work and will be a RYT soon. I would love to mesh my knowledge of the 2 together and help people at the same time. There isn't much for cancer survivors in the Ventura County area and would be interested in expanding in this area. If you have anyone you can think of that I can connect with, please drop me a message! Namaste.

Thank you Jean for the warm welcome! I was diagnosed with Stage IVb Laryngeal Cancer on 12/14/09; 3 surgeries followed during the next 8 days, including a total layrngectomy, which has given me a stoma through which to breathe. I must admit having this new "shortcut" to the lungs has eliminated any nasal/sinus congestion issues when practicing pranayama. I have been practicing for six years and am looking forward to resuming my (home) asana practice this week, and returning to (studio) classes in March. Glad I'm now a Yoga Bear! Namaste.

Jean, I am a member of the acor list and do sometimes post - mdhnyc1@aol.com
I did Yoga a number of years back and with all the stress of dealing with CRC, I have been thinking of giving it a shot again. I need some "balance". I was looking to see if there are any places in NYC, but maybe I missed it, is this just a virtual community or are there places to take classes. Let me know. Michele

Hey Jean,
Thank you for responding so quickly. Your words are certainly comforting. I t feels really good when you know some one out there does hear you and and wants to understand you by just acknowledging you for who you are no matter what. Yes, sometimes more than I care for my ego gets in the way, however it is the heart that beats the loudest my convictions and my true state of being. Feel free whatever you would like to use from my story. We are all one mind, heart, and soul. Today the Universe certainly has answered my purpose.GOD bless and may we continue shining our light...............

Hi Jean,
I am honored......I have a couple of items I could send you. One is a letter I wrote to Oprah, that tells my story. Also,my reconstructive surgeon did a DVD and I did the voice over and was in the DVD, playing tennis, and anonymously showing my outcome from reconstruction. The intro to the DVD is online and I could send you that link. I also have an advertisement that Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula did for the Patient Navigator Program. I could send all of them to you and you could use what you want for the blog. It would be very easy for me to send them if I had your e-mail. My "treatment" decision was somewhat unique, but I feel it is should be shared with others diagnosed with breast cancer.
Namaste,
Susan
