Thank you Jean for your warm welcome!Taris training was so interesting ,very deep, really alot to learn. In October I am taking restorative training with Jillian Pransky at Yoga Works. My intention is to share these teachings with an open heart with all those touched by cancer that I can....Thanks again for your warm welcome...Sat nam Reina
Thanks so much for your input. I think for those of us who may not have snapped back as quickly as others, knowing you have tools to help with the symptoms makes it all a little easier to cope and keep moving forward.

Thank you Jean, I am away until the end of August, but starting in September, I hope to start a yoga program at a Philadelphia cancer center. This past year I taught cancer survivors at a yoga studio. I look forward to having you as a resource. Thank you. Karen
Aloha Jean
And thank you for your reply. I will check out the info you suggest, and see if i can have a few friends over for gentle yoga time, and i have decided to drive into the nearest sizable town for a restorative / meditative yoga class. It is simple and relaxing. Mahalo for your support. Namaste, Katherine
Hi Jean!
I am thrilled to hear from you. Wow! You taught for many years. I am still a beginner at yoga, but hoping it will keep me well, allow me to meet new people and serve as a source of relaxation from the day. I am lucky not to be a Cancer survivor, but support your efforts as so many are in need. Write me back more about yourself and what you do.
BTW, close friends ofours are also Wagner's.
Be safe...

Thanks for the email.I just discover yogabear few days ago.I'm 74 years old and I'm looking for ways to improve my wellbeing.Right now I'm interested to find a yoga class design for cancer survivor within my age.
hi jean, i suppose i should start at the beginning. i have been a practicing yogi for 9 years and was diagnosed with stage two invasive cancer in 2006, underwent a bilateral mastectomy and over the following year reconstruction.during the same year i graduated from a 200 hour teacher training here in newport, r.i. yes, i said during treatment and surgery. to say i was passionate about teaching other survivors is only part of my story. i truly believe that my yoga practice and spiritual curiosity at the time gave me the tools to turn something that is life changing into a life affirming gift that i now share with the women in my class. in 2007 i attended tari prinsters class at om yoga. i loved meeting tari who is an inspiration and it was a valuable experience. since that time i have attended trainings with camille kittrell of exclusive yoga which is a specialized program for cancer patients in waltham, mass. her training is truly fantastic and i would recommend it to anyone living in the new england area.i have also studied yoga therapy with gary kraftsow and i am presently training with sarah powers.
i felt it was important for me to understand the complexity of teaching these women as i have the utmost love and respect for my sisters on this journey.
each tuesday i am blessed to teach a mostly restorative class to a group of women. we have breast cancer survivors, a kidney cancer survivor, a lung cancer survivor and some friends that come along for support for first timers.
the energy levels are different each week and i adapt the class around this. last week for instance i taught a yin class. there might be a week where we begin with half sun salutations and move to the floor for the rest. it is a mix each week and everyone knows to honor themselves as they are.
i am blessed in more ways than i can express and i would love to help any new teacher with questions. please feel free to e-mail me anytime. namaste, alicia
Amen to all of that! I'm starting to assist this morning in a class I've been taking for five years, and also -- teaching my own class for the first time in a brand new studio. I'm strangely calm! (I keep asking myself why - ??? LOL) Have a wonderful day.
